Solar glare control
Intent:
To avoid glare from the sun by blocking or reflecting direct sunlight away from occupants.
Shading is only required within regularly occupied areas within the WELL project boundary. Typically retail spaces are not included within the project boundary and therefore would not need to meet the requirement. The ground floor lobby would only need to meet the requirement if it is considered a regular occupied space (i.e. has a reception space.)
If the external shading is not controlled by the occupants, then the system must be set to automatically set to prevent glare. This can be done best with a daylight sensor, but can also be done with a timer set for that purpose.
