This optimization is applicable to all interiors projects. Interiors projects over four floors are still able to achieve this optimization by meeting requirements listed in Parts 1, 2 and 3. Single-story interiors projects located in a multistory building may also achieve this feature if sufficient access is provided to the base-building stairs and the base-building stairs meet the requirements listed in Parts 1, 2 and 3.
Light levels of at least 215 lux [20 fc] are required to be met throughout the staircase and other paths of frequent travel when it is in use. The verification method for this feature is a visual inspection which may necessitate spot measurements during performance verification at stair treads and landings and within other paths of frequent travel.
Signage is required at each elevator bank that is part of the scope of the project. In a multi-floor project, wayfinding signage is required on each floor. For projects with multiple elevator banks there would need to be signage present at each set of elevators.
