Yes, please contact the WELL Performance Testing Agent explaining the scope of the Interiors project and that it is over four floors but meeting the feature requirements. This feature can be achieved through clarification with the WELL Performance Testing Agent and does not require an AAP.
The requirements for Part 3 need to be met in at least one staircase and at least one path of frequent travel.
There is no sizing requirement and point-of-decision signs may be as simple as a written statistic or encouragement to use the stairs over taking the elevator. For instance, you might include a statistic about the extra calories you would burn by taking the stairs, or simply encourage people to stay fit / meet their activity goals by choosing the stairs. The signs should also incorporate wayfinding, directing occupants to where the stairs are located.
Yes, this feature can be added to the project's scorecard as a bonus optimization. Please contact the WELL Performance Testing Agent explaining the scope of the project and that it is over four floors but meeting the feature requirements. This feature can be achieved through clarification with the WELL Performance Testing Agent and does not require an AAP.
This optimization is applicable to all interiors projects. Interiors projects over four floors are still able to achieve this optimization by meeting requirements listed in Parts 1, 2 and 3. Single-story interiors projects located in a multistory building may also achieve this feature if sufficient access is provided to the base-building stairs and the base-building stairs meet the requirements listed in Parts 1, 2 and 3.
Light levels of at least 215 lux [20 fc] are required to be met throughout the staircase and other paths of frequent travel when it is in use. The verification method for this feature is a visual inspection which may necessitate spot measurements during performance verification at stair treads and landings and within other paths of frequent travel.
Signage is required at each elevator bank that is part of the scope of the project. In a multi-floor project, wayfinding signage is required on each floor. For projects with multiple elevator banks there would need to be signage present at each set of elevators.
