Antimicrobial activity for surfaces

Antimicrobial activity for surfaces

Intent:

To reduce occupant exposure to both harmful pathogens and hazardous cleaning agents.

The owner must provide compliant materials or compliant equipment and services within the spaces they build out. This may include tenant spaces if the owner provides these materials and services within tenant spaces.

Surfaces can be tested for antimicrobial activity by following EPA testing Protocol # 01-1A. Copper, for instance, is abrasion-resistant, non-leaching and meets the EPA testing requirements. Plastic surfaces, however, do not meet these requirements.
