Interior fitness circulation

Intent:

To encourage intermittent bouts of physical activity and reduce sedentary behavior through accessible, safe, and visually appealing stairs, entryways, and corridors.

No. This optimization is still applicable, and can still be achieved by interiors projects over four floors if they meet the feature requirements (see other FAQ). For interiors projects over four floors that do not meet the feature requirements, this optimization is still deemed applicable but cannot be achieved by the project.

Yes. Please contact your WELL Assessor explaining the scope of the interiors project and that it is over four floors but meeting the feature requirements. This feature can be achieved through clarification with the WELL Assessor and does not require an AAP.

Light levels of at least 215 lux are required to be met throughout the staircase when it is in use. The verification method for this feature is a visual inspection which may necessitate spot measurements during performance verification at stair treads and landings.

No, this feature is only applicable for projects with between 2 and 4 floors. A project with more than 4 floors can still comply with all of the parts of the feature as an optimization.

Signage is required at each elevator bank that is part of the scope of the project. In a multi-floor project, wayfinding signage is required on each floor. In cases with multiple elevator banks on the lobby there would need to be signage present at each set of elevators.
